2-19-08 - New site! What do you think? We have a new layout, new color scheme, and we're working on new content as well. Our old site was intended mainly as a way to help people find us, but we want to make these pages more useful, too! We have a few ideas of our own that will begin rolling out soon, but we welcome yours as well. After all, this site should be YOUR resource. We're working hard to make PGS useful to our community. After all, that's what we're here for! We hope you feel a strong connection to us, and that we're able to give you the help you need. But if we're NOT serving your needs, please do tell us. We have the Contact tab on our menu for a reason; we really do want to know what you think. Holiday Party 2007 SuccessfulOur 2007 party was smaller than our first one, but it was a night of warmth and excitement nonetheless! Great music and delicious gourmet food were highlights, but by and large the thing we heard over and over again was "It's just FUN to see everyone!" We're very, very thankful to all those who volunteered for the hours they spent slaving over hot Christmas tree lights, platters of salmon, tray after tray of hand-made desserts and, of course, the bar. We could never have done it without you! And in the end we had a beautiful room sparkling with light and humming with laughter and conversation. And for all those who came to eat and converse, we're very grateful to you for coming. We know you enjoyed the party, but you also helped us raise funds that we need in order to operate, and that's as great to us as getting to share that happy evening with you all. We at PGS hope that the joy of that night helps to fuel you into a happy, successful New Year. We've revised our meeting schedule!Pacific Gender Support is establishing a new Saturday night format. Join us this Saturday, February 3d, for our inaugural session. This will indeed be Saturday Night Live!! As part of our revised meetings, Pacific Gender Support will merge our Friday and Saturday meetings. Our Saturday nights are from 7.30 to 9:30. We are sad to conclude our Fridays -- which were heir to a long and rich heritage from Ingersoll and before that from Seattle Counseling Service. Our thanks to those who have run that group for a meeting format that served us so well for so long. Our first Saturday meeting each month will be our traditional Movie Night. This Saturday, we will show TransAmerica on our new, bigger screen! Popcorn is free, bring you own soda, and as usual we’ll be asking for a donation to help defray a portion of the expenses for rent and electricity. The next three Saturdays each month will continue the traditional peer support format popularized by our Friday meetings. Come and share, listen, and discuss topics relevant to our lives, to those close to us, and to our communities. Our Saturday lineups also include a brand-new addition. The fifth Saturday (for those months when there is one) will be Surprise Saturday! Suzanne Adams has agreed to hostess these evenings. Be sure to come to see what the surprises might be. Our Thursday nights (from 7 until 9 PM) will continue the same casual “drop-in” programs. These meetings are very casual, and conversations can range from personal gender concerns to … . There’s always room for one more; come join us. The once a month group (4th Tuesdays from 7 till 9 PM) for Significant Others and Friends will continue to provide support and advice for those who are trying to understand and accept the changes in our lives. HOLIDAY PARTY 2006Wow! What a success -- in all the ways one could measure a party! The hall was perfectly filled, the food was great, the classical guitar created the perfect ambience for dining, our auction was fun, fast, and furious -- and the dancing was delightful for young and old. And, very importantly, we made money to help pay some expenses for our meeting operations during the coming year! Thanks very, very much to those who came and to those who worked to make it a happy occasion! |
